Daily motivation 17 – filling your own shoes

It was Judy Garland who said a very famous line to this effect, and I think it’s an important one to remember:

“Be a first rate version of yourself, not a second rate version of someone else.”

There’s only one of you. Sure, there might be people similar to you, but nobody exists in the world with your family, your friends, your background, your experiences, your past, your present and your future. You are unique.

You may admire other people and strive to place their qualities in your life, but never sell yourself short. Better to be the best you can be, within your own limitations, than push to fill someone else’s shoes.
